Enjoy the original music of mostly local composers at Pensacola ComposerFest XVIII set for 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 24, at Pensacola State College’s Ashmore Fine Arts Auditorium, Building 8, on the Pensacola campus. The free event is open to the public and provides an opportunity to hear various new music written by contemporary composers – many of whom will attend. Eight of the 13 compositions in the concert will be world premieres.

Nine Pensacola State College performing arts students have been named to the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) 2022-2023 All-Academic Team. Ezra Baker, Tabari Daniels-Butcher, Haileigh Furlong, Sienna Hudak, Daelan Moreland, Owen Raley, Tristen Rodriguez, Hudson Laws Savage and Francisco Segovia were honored for academic excellence, leadership and community service. To be selected for the All-Academic Team, students must have at least a 3.30-grade point average and have earned at least 18 credit hours. Dr. Kenneth Phillips, head of the College’s Performing Arts Department, was proud of the students.
Pensacola State College announced proposed lab fees for students enrolled in the Performing Arts Department programs. The College’s District Board of Trustees will vote on the fees at the Tuesday, June 20 meeting at 5:30 p.m. on the Pensacola campus. If approved by the Board of Trustees, the new fees will take effect for the Fall 2023 Semester.
