Michael Coleman was recently awarded First Degree Diploma in the Golden Key International Composition Competition for 2021. Other composers receiving diplomas and honorable mentions in his division hailed from China, Italy, and Poland. Dr. Coleman is invited to perform his “Four Bagatelles” for solo piano on the World Composers Recital at the Golden Key Music Festival at Vienna, July 28, 2021 where the Diploma and Winner’s Medal will be presented on the stage of Vienna’s historic Ehrbar Hall during the Award Ceremony. This is the second time Dr. Coleman has won the First Degree Diploma in the International Competition and he performed one of his piano works at Ehrbar Hall in August, 2019. Dr. Coleman will also be having his “2020 Etude” for clavietta recorded by multi-keyboardist David Bohn on his “20 Seconds of 2020 Project” during January. The recording will be released on YouTube. Dr. Coleman previously had his “poco perpetuo” for melodica recorded on Bohn’s “The COVID-19 Project”. David Bohn is currently president of the Wisconsin Alliance of Composers.
