Graduate UAB Birmingham in BS in Business Management, Marketing and Industrial Distribution. Graduate of Full Sail University-Orlando in Recording Arts and Belmont University-Nashville-Music Business Major/Commercial Music Minor. As a musician, Joel has toured as pianist/keyboardist for artists such as Reba McEntire, The Judds, Kenny Rodgers, Tanya Tucker and Skip Ewing. Joel appeared regularly as guest pianist on TNN’s “Hee Haw”, Grand Ole Opry, Joel appeared as regular guest pianists/keyboardist on national television shows such as TNN’s Hee Haw, Grand Ole Opry, Nashville Now, On-Stage, Music City Tonight, Crook and Chase, and PBS’s Austin City Limits. As engineer/producer, Joel’s discography includes artists such as Michael W. Smith, Alabama, Crystal Gayle, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Emmy Lou Harris, John Mayer, Third Eye Blind, Train, REM, The Black Crows, Hootie & the Blow Fish, and Cold Play.
As University instructor, 2000-2012, Joel taught Recording Technology 1 and Recording Technology 2 at UAB-Birmingham; as well as, the Recording Workshop of Birmingham. Since 2018, Joel has been residing here at PSC at Ashmore Auditorium as chief audio and systems engineer.
