The 2021 Guitar Foundation of America’s International Concert Artist Competition Grand Prize winner, Bokyung Byun, will bring her refined musicianship to Pensacola State College next month. Presented by the College’s Guitar Association, Byun’s performance is set for 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, in Ashmore Fine Arts Auditorium, Building 8, on the Pensacola campus.
The 2023 Pensacola State College Finger Style Acoustic Guitar Competition is set for 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, Feb. 18, in Ashmore Fine Arts Auditorium. The competition is open to all acoustic guitarists who are 18 years old or younger on the date of the competition. Ashmore Auditorium is Building 8 on the Pensacola campus at 1000 College Blvd. There is no application fee.
If you’ve heard the song “Wagon Wheel” – and we know you have – you can credit iconic songwriter Bob Dylan and Ketch Secor of the Grammy-winning band, Old Crow Medicine Show. Who knows? Maybe Secor will even play the once-ubiquitous earworm when he performs on Friday, Jan. 27, in Pensacola State College’s Ashmore Auditorium, Building 8, on the Pensacola campus.

Michael Coleman was recently awarded First Degree Diploma in the Golden Key International Composition Competition for 2021. PSC music majors David Christenson and Danielle Sims performed for PSC’s inaugural Change Makers Dinner that was held on December 9th. The event raised $164,000 that will go towards helping our students through the Universal Scholarship Fund and 4 new endowments. Thanks, Danielle and David!
Mr. Don Snowden has had a long and industrious career at Pensacola State College, having begun as a Music Instructor in 1987. Before working at PSC, Snowden received his bachelor’s degree from Livingston University in 1976 and his master’s from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1981. Since then, he has served as the Director of Bands and the Department Head of the Performing Arts Department.
The concert is titled “Peeks into the Infinite I” and is part of KMA’s concert season. This is the first of two concert programs celebrating the 250th birth year of Beethoven by exploring the genre of the Bagatelle, from Beethoven to the modern-day.
